The not long re-opened and refurbished union of Glasgow School of Art plays host tonight to one of those events that promises to be just about as mental as you would hope. Hank Jackson, currently doing some serious damage on the back of releases for such on-the-money labels as Mr Saturday Night and Proibito arrives in Glasgow on an utterly Baltic May Day for what should be a class live set. With only two records to his name so far, Jackson has hit the ground running. Hopefully we’ll get more of this in the near future. Support comes from Pleasure Garden residents – and Jackson’s label mates on Mr Saturday Night – General Ludd, whose record out of that stable I reviewed here a couple of days ago.
Opens at 11, free before midnight – No idea how much it is aside from that. D’you need to be a student these days to go?
School of Art, Renfrew Street, Glasgow. Join the famously elastic queues and marvel at the Rennie Mackintosh building across the road etc etc. Has all the charm of a multi story car park, you know, but people refuse to see it….what you gonna do?
It’ll be good. Well, it’ll be good for those of us who don’t have to go to work tomorrow morning..Mutter, gripe, whine….
