Pattern Burst is an attempt to put into words my own feelings for a near quarter of a century love affair with electronic music that began with primitive acid house records, Detroit techno, and electro and has drifted almost imperceptibly into, err, primitive acid house records, Detroit techno, and electro It is essentially an outlet for me to enthuse about the records and music I like, provide occasional critical analysis and give ill-considered opinions on a host of electronic music related subject and a few others, including books, art, politics or, you know, stuff.

More importantly, this is an attempt for me to give a bit back towards something that has supported me through a few rough times over the years. House and techno are my music. It is the music of my generation whether my generation is aware of it or not. It is a form of music that is often magical, occasionally infuriating, seldom easy to explain and almost always rewarding. I am a pretty bad DJ, and an even worse producer, but I think I can put a few words together. So that’s what I’ve done.

  1. Hi, I found your blog after searching for a review of Omar S’ “Romancing The Stone”. I loved that piece.

Even though I had originally set out to find a review, what I really sought was a love letter addressed to that track. You delivered above and beyond, and I’d like to thank you immensely for your words.
